The Observation Beehive
Parents and children alike love watching our observation beehive, located in our country store.
Rvo - Beehive - A
It's fascinating to see all the busy bees doing the things bees do best, like bringing pollen in from outside & putting it in the honeycomb, dancing to tell other bees where the food is, cleaning up around the hive, “fanning” their wings to keep things cool, dragging intruders out, and more. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the queen!

Whatever you do, don't tap too hard on the glass!

Rvo - Beehive - B
This is the traffic jam of bees at rush-hour during evenings much of the year. The hive usually contains more than 50,000 bees, and many are trying to get back in at the same time. There's an opening in the outer wall of the country store which leads to a tunnel to the inside of the hive. Don't worry, it's in the back of the building! And believe it or not, they usually completely ignore everyone, anyway.
In case you're wondering, we do sell a selection of honey products. Visit our honey house or read a few facts about bees.
